Chapter Officers


President: Kaitlyn Barber

Kait Barber joined the Army in 2012 and is currently serving as a Paralegal at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. She has been stationed all over the globe, including Alaska, Germany, and Michigan for a recruiting tour. She has been working on her BA in History (General) at AMU for the past three years and has recently began her Senior year. Kait converted to Catholicism in 2021 after completing RCIA and recently, her husband was able to receive his Sacraments in July 2024. She has been volunteering with Scouts of America since 2020 and is the Assistant Den Leader for Arrow of Light Scouts, Pack 1- Southern Pines, NC. Kait is currently an active member of the Saint Michael, the Arch Angel Catholic Community at Fort Liberty, NC.
 

Vice President: Daniel Valiet

Daniel served in U. S. Army for nearly nine years. He holds a BA in History as well as a Certificate in Military Leadership from American Military University (AMU). Dan recently completed his Masters in Humanities at AMU, which he undertook to enhance his skills in helping others with their spiritual and emotional growth. His MA degree conferred August 1, 2022. Dan is a member of the Yoga Alliance and holds certification as a yoga instructor, RYT-500. Dan has a special interest in working with wounded warriors and persons with disabilities. He enjoys spending time with his three sons. Dan also enjoys creative arts like digital printing with a pen and digital painting. He is a member of Saint Jude’s Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, which he joined in 2004. He is a Fourth Degree Knight and is in the Color Corps. He believes in taking care of animals, especially cats.
 

Secretary: Anne Midgley

Anne graduated from American Public University in August 2014 with a MA in Military History (Honors). She retired from her position as Senior Vice President and Business Support Executive with Bank of America in 2015. Anne and her husband Bill recently celebrated their 46th anniversary. They have two children, James (wife Lauren) and Katie (husband Kyle) and three grandchildren. Anne founded the AMU & APU Newman Center in April 2017. In 2022, working with APUS Student Affairs and Students for Life of America, she founded the AMU & APU Students for Life chapter. Anne has been active in a number of APUS student organizations.
 

Treasurer: Tracey DeCicco

Tracey graduated from APU in 2013 with a MA in American History. She currently works as the Instructional Systems Administrator at Athens State University in Athens, AL. In addition to the degree from APU, she holds a BSEd in Instructional Design and a MEd in Instructional Technology from Athens State. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of First Source for Women, a local pro-life pregnancy center, serving as the secretary of the board. She lives in Cullman, Alabama, with her husband John and three of their four children, with her eldest and her family living nearby. She is an avid University of Alabama football fan and enjoys reading books about the American Revolution and the Civil War.
 

Webmaster: Diana Picallo

Diana is a proud military spouse, married to her husband Jason for 18 years. Jason is an active-duty Army soldier who recently celebrated 20 years of service. Diana is pursuing her Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing with a concentration in Internet-Web Technology from American Military University, with plans to continue on to earn her MBA in Program Management.

Deeply committed to her family and community, Diana balances her studies with raising their two children: Trinity, who serves in the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, Virginia, and Balin, a martial arts enthusiast who trains in Tang Soo Do and has earned recognition for his dedication and confidence.

Now living near Savannah, Georgia, Diana enjoys visiting the beach, exploring local history, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Saturdays in the fall bring a spirited rivalry into their home, with Jason cheering for the University of Florida Gators while Diana proudly roots for the University of Georgia Bulldogs.

She also supports her husband’s vintage toy and collectible business and enjoys finding ways to blend her marketing skills with their entrepreneurial goals. At home, they share their lives with three beloved dogs—a Boxer, an English Bulldog, and a French Bulldog.
