As the semester winds down and we transition into the holiday break, it’s easy to feel the weight of the world. For those of us in the pro-life movement, our “business” (as our Chapter President Tracey DeCicco often reminds us) is the common welfare, charity, and the protection of the most vulnerable. While that work is serious, the holidays call us to something equally important: Positivity.
Reasons to Celebrate: A Year of Victories
We aren’t just advocacy-driven; we are results-driven. In a recent article by Americans United for Life titled “Top 10 Victories for Life in 2025,” the movement celebrated incredible milestones that remind us why we do what we do. From the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which shifted significant support toward families and adoption, to new studies showing the vital impact of pregnancy resource centers, there is so much “good news” to carry into the New Year.
These aren’t just political wins; they represent real mothers supported and real lives cherished. For us at AMU/APU, being part of the 2023 Outstanding New Organization of the Year means we are part of this momentum.
Three Ways to Stay Positive This Holiday
It can be tough to stay “merry” when you are passionate about such a heavy topic. Here is how we can protect our peace while staying true to our mission:
- Refocus on the “Manger”: Much like the message from Proverbs 31 Ministries, remember that the holiday is about a “surprise” pregnancy that changed the world. Let the story of the Nativity remind you that every life, no matter how unexpected, has a divine purpose.
- Practice Gratitude Advocacy: Instead of debating, try giving. Whether it’s participating in our chapter’s Virtual Baby Shower or simply thanking a mentor, gratitude is an antidepressant for the soul.
- Celebrate the Small Wins: Did you have a respectful conversation with a classmate this year? Did you wear your “Pro-Life Generation” gear with confidence? Those small seeds matter.
A Message to Our Members
To our fellow students across the globe: You are not alone. Whether you are studying for finals or traveling to see family, know that your work as a digital advocate for life is making waves.
As we look toward 2026, let’s carry the light of 2025’s victories with us. May your holiday be filled with the same “charity, mercy, and forbearance” that we strive to bring to our advocacy every day.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from your AMU & APU Students for Life Leadership Team!
