The pro life movement never believed the reversal of Roe v. Wade would end the battle. It simply shifted the field. Today’s hearing at the U.S. Supreme Court in First Choice Women’s Resource Centers, Inc. v. Platkin proves it.
Across the country, pregnancy centers have stepped up to serve women with real help, offering more than 450 million dollars in free medical care, education, support, and material goods in 2024 alone. They welcomed more than one million new clients last year and earned a 98 percent satisfaction rate. These centers are not fringe. They are trusted. They meet needs the abortion industry never has.
Yet instead of celebrating these charitable efforts, pro abortion officials have tried to tear them down. New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin is a prime example. His office has demanded private donor information from centers that do not perform abortions and even coordinated with Planned Parenthood to push a so called consumer alert built on false claims. It is government pressure disguised as protection.
Since the Dobbs draft leak in 2022, about 100 pregnancy centers and pro life groups have been vandalized or attacked. At the same time, 70 percent of abortion related threats investigated by the FBI have targeted pro life organizations. The same leaders who warn America about political violence are silent when it lands on peaceful charities that offer diapers, ultrasounds, counseling, and friendship.
Marjorie Dannenfelser called pregnancy centers the beating heart of the pro life movement. She is right. These centers show what real choice looks like. A woman walking through their doors receives encouragement, not a sales pitch. She meets people who remember her name and stay in touch long after her child is born. Mothers like Jessica testify that the support they received saved their children and shaped their lives.
And that is exactly why the abortion lobby feels threatened. Pregnancy centers show that compassion works. Care works. Community works. When women are given practical help, many choose life. This reality undermines the narrative that abortion is the only answer.
Autumn Christensen of Her PLAN put it plainly. First Choice is fighting for every charity that serves vulnerable moms and their children. Helping both mother and baby should not be controversial. It should be common sense.
The Charlotte Lozier Institute’s latest analysis proves the need is growing. Women and families rely on pregnancy centers for hope, guidance, and resources that move them forward. These centers walk with clients instead of pushing them toward a single outcome. That deserves respect, not harassment.
The fall of Roe did not end the struggle. It revealed who is truly committed to women’s well being and who is committed only to abortion. As today’s Supreme Court arguments show, pro life groups are still forced to defend their work against political attacks that would never be tolerated in any other charitable sector.
But the movement is not backing down. Pregnancy centers are standing firm because they know the truth. Women deserve help. Children deserve a chance. Families deserve support, not pressure or fear. And the pro life movement will keep fighting until every woman knows she is not alone.
